Should We Stay
or Should We Go?

Throughout the years—as demand for Bornhava’s services has grown—having the space that allows us to comfortably do what we do has often proven to be a challenge. Additionally, our space also limits the number of children that we can provide services to. So, what would be the best way to address these issues?

Should we move to a new location? Should we build something completely new? Should we expand the current location? All of these are options that Bornhava’s leadership and planning committees have considered and explored in recent years.

After much thought and deliberation—as well as consultation from respected real estate developers in the area—it was decided that it would be best for Bornhava to remain where it is.

In order to raise the funds necessary for this expansion, we’re excited to announce that Bornhava is currently in the early phases of a capital campaign that we’re calling “Building Their Lives. Building Our Future.”

The Benefits of Staying

  • The size of our current property easily accommodates expansion.

  • We can expand while retaining a majority of our park-like green space.

  • It’s a great, safe neighborhood that’s central to the area we serve.

  • Overall, the current building is in very good shape and adaptable to expansion.

  • Bornhava already owns the current building/property—with no mortgage.

EXPANSION GOALS

This expansion will address the many space limitations we currently have, and allow Bornhava to better serve our community through:

  • The addition of more classrooms—increasing capacity for more students.

  • A new dedicated motor room and larger therapy spaces.

  • An updated reception area to welcome our families and visitors.

  • Dedicated meeting and gathering spaces—which the current building lacks.

  • The addition of new bathrooms and update of existing bathrooms.

  • Improved second-floor access with the addition of an elevator, and new stairways

Moving Forward

Through careful planning and a multi-phased approach, we’re looking to greatly improve upon what we already have at our Chateau location—while also expanding the capacity—and without interrupting our day-to-day.

In the months to come, as we work through our planning process, the details of our project and what will be required to make it a reality will become much clearer. We will share those details here, as they become available. Or, you may also sign up to receive email updates.
